Apply patches in SAP through SPAM

Download SPAM Version

Login into https://service.sap.com/swdc > Support Packages and Patches > Browse Download Catalog > Additional Components > SAP SPAM/SAINT Update > Select Release and download Spam Update SAPKD* version

Update SPAM Version

1. Download required SPAM level ( KD70037.CAR)
2. Uncar the car file using command sapcar -xvf KD62020.CAR
3. Then we will get 2 files .ATT and PAT and copy thes in /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in
4. Login into SAP level in 000 client with DDIC type of user
5. Goto Transaction Code 'SPAM' 
6. Select Support Package -- Load packages -- From application server. Click BACK.
7. Select Support Package -- Import SPAM/SAINT Update
8. Continue
9. If any problem comes, then follow 7,8 th steps until success you can refer logs to troubleshoot the issue


Apply support packages

1. Download required Support Package Level 42 (KB62042.CAR).
2. Uncar the car file using command sapcar -xvf KB62042.CAR
3. Then we will get 2 files .ATT and PAT and copy thes in /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in 
4. Login into SAP level in 000 client with DDIC type of user. 
5. Goto SPAM 
6. Select Support Package -- Load packages -- From application server. Click BACK. 
7. Select Display Difine , All Components, Calculate Queue, Confirm queue. Observe the required patch in the queue. 
8. Select Support Package -- Import Queue 
9. Import 
10. If any problem comes, then follow 8,9 th steps until success.

After Applying support packs you need to carry SPAD and SPAU

SPAD: This is the transaction which is used to update the data dictionary tables which applying SP. This is the phase where functional consultant assistance is required. 

SPAU: This is the transaction which is used to update the repository objects like programs, reports, functional modules while applying support packages. This is the phase where technical consultants required.

SAP Parameters can be changed by using tcodes RZ10 and RZ11.
RZ10 - Requires sap r3 restart to get parameter effect
RZ11 - Do not require restart and these parameters are effect immediately once we change the value
